Highlighting . . . The "Renewing Life Center"

This season, for our first story, for our first nonprofit . . . it brings us great joy to honor and introduce you to The Renewing Life Center.  I have had the pleasure of knowing the two directors, Dr. Patricia Meye and Mark Whelchel for several years and have come to appreciate the many arms they extend to our community, other nonprofit organizations, churches they serve, and the lives they have helped heal.  A strong believer in seeking wisdom and professional counsel, our "stories" for the season will be published from a community of wonderful people who have beautiful stories of healing to share.  It is our desire that through their stories, you too might be touched or inspired and realize that you are not alone on this journey we call "life" . . . so please take a moment, read our monthly posts, and then, share with a friend or two.

The Renewing Life Center is here to serve our community.  We are a nonprofit Christian Counseling Center and our mission is to extend God's love to the Las Vegas Valley by providing excellent and affordable care.  We first opened our doors to begin serving our valley ten years ago in 2005 and it has been an incredible decade of seeing countless lives being changed.  Our goal is that each person who walks through our door experiences God's love through every contact with our staff, through the quality of care they receive, and the peaceful environment they encounter.

We provide services for all people regardless of economic, social, racial or religious background and no one is ever turned away based on their ability to pay.  We have been privileged to provide over $300,000 worth of free and discounted services in 2015 and more than one million dollars worth of free or discounted services in the last four years.   Every month we provide more than 80 free counseling sessions and many more at greatly reduced fees.                                              

We are able to offer this kind of care by charging a sliding scale fee for those who can afford to pay for their services and by billing insurance whenever this is possible.  This covers about two thirds of our cost and the rest is covered through the generous gifts of those who believe in our mission to strengthen individuals, marriages and families, and to extend help to those who might not otherwise receive care.

We have partnerships with The Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Living Grace Home, First Choice Pregnancy Center, The Cupcake Girls, and others.  Our partnerships with these groups allow us to provide free counseling for the homeless, pregnant teens, women and men in crisis and others.  We also partner with over 25 Christ-centered Churches allowing us to give care when a Church has members in crisis.  We love to partner with organizations that are serving the people of our city.

We provide a safe and confidential place for pastors and their families to receive care.  Our center directors, Dr. Pat Meye, D.Min., and Mark Whelchel, MS. LMFT, each have 30 years of pastoral ministry in the local church so they are in a unique position to understand the significant pressures on pastors and their families.  We have a strong desire to strengthen the local church by caring for their leaders.

We provide classes, programs, and many other opportunities for people to grow in their relationship with God.  We believe that a healthy life and strong relationships are rooted in this relationship with our Heavenly Father.  So, everything we do begins with prayer.  WE know that God is at work in our center, in our lives as counselors, and in the life of every person who comes into our office for help.  We regularly pray for each of our clients and are always available to pray with our clients whenever they request. 

Jesus made the statement, "I have come that you might have life and have it abundantly." (John 10:10) Our hearts desire is to help people experience this kind of life and to experience the lavish love that our Heavenly Father has for each and every one of us.
